Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ready Steady Speech offers speech pathology services in the areas of articulation, stuttering, and literacy. Formal language assessment using the CELF-5 and School Readiness Assssments are also offered.

  • Articulation: If your child has not yet met the speech sound milestones expected for their age, early speech intervention is recommended. Producing speech sounds is highly habitual, so intervention has greater success when started at a young age, in order to break their speech habits as soon as possible. Check out the speech sound milestones published by Kid Sense here.

Literacy: Your child’s school teacher is likely to have great insight into how they are performing with their current literacy curriculum. If your teacher has expressed concerns, or your child is not reaching the reading milestones, you might consider seeking a literacy assessment with a Speech Pathologist. Check out these reading milestones published by Kids Health here.

Stuttering: If your child demonstrates a) repetitions of sounds, syllables, words, or phrases, b) prolongs sounds, or c) has blocks in their speech, it may be a sign of stuttering. A family history of stuttering can increase the likelihood of a child developing stuttering. If you have a family history, it’s essential to monitor your child’s speech closely.

  • Therapy sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly basis. However, the frequency may vary depending on your child’s needs and goals.

  • You could be eligible to claim a percentage of the session cost back through Private Health Insurance (depending on your level of coverage), however, this will have to be done by the individual after full payment for the session is received.

Ready Steady Speech also accepts Care Plans from General Practitioners. Please provide a copy of the care plan to the Speech Pathologist.

Ready Steady Speech accepts NDIS self- and plan-managed participants.
